- Button Robes and British Columbia TribesEn North Clarkia·December 15, 2020This week is a full week with the students learning about the three main tribes in British Columbia - Kwakiutl, Bellacolla, and Nuu-chah-nulth. We will be learning about their religious traditions and ceremonies and the various art and games the families participated in in each B.C. tribe. The students will also be continuing their work on their button robes. In fact, we are in need of more buttons! If you have anymore buttons you can donate to this project, please give them to either Mr. Dante or myself this week. In writing, we are continuing our work on narrative stories specifically ways in which to include dialogue and emotion to our written work. In reading, we are focusing on finding dialogue and taking notes on how an author introduces an individual talking and then the transition and introduction of a new individual talking. The students will use these and apply it to their writing this week. Dante is heading the button blankets project. Therefor, if you are interested in volunteering and coming in to help the students sew this week, please contact him after school. As always, thank you for all you do. Mrs. Ingalls000

- Moving OnlineEn South Clarkia·December 15, 2020We are facing a rather incredible situation in our country with COVID19 and the impacts upon us all. In order to keep education moving forward we have worked very hard to set up resources and plans to provide learning opportunities at home. The most impactful of these is Google Classroom. We are currently setting up email accounts for all students so they can access Google Classroom. For 4th grade and younger students the email will not actually be able to send/receive at this time. It will be used only for logging into Classroom. There will be other online resources made available and will require you to to visit a website, input a code and join the group. You will receive all the needed info today. On the front porch here at MRA are some boxes from classrooms. There is a 4th grade math box with a packet of math that can be done over the next couple weeks and a South Clarkia box in which are spelling packets as well as some math for 3rd graders. These are available now on the porch and will be available online as well. The goal is for you to be able to get these resources even if you can't make it into the school to pick them up. We are getting prepared for a rather long hiatus from coming into school and are making plans to keep in touch (virtually) and connected with all our students. Stay healthy, stay safe, stay positive! Thank you for your support.000
